Peterhead Baptist Church

Peterhead Baptist Church is a group of Christians of different ages and backgrounds who are committed to sharing the good news of Jesus with our community and to using the resources that God has entrusted to us to make Jesus known in our town and throughout the world.

At our Sunday Services each week we gather to worship God, to pray, to celebrate His love towards us and explain the gospel of Jesus Christ by preaching from His Holy Word (the bible). In the life of our church we use many different ways to share the life-transforming and life-giving message of Jesus: With meetings for children, senior citizens and every age in between and through special events which are organised from time to time.

We believe:

 

• Jesus of Nazareth is the Son of God

 
 
• God has spoken to us clearly through Jesus and the Bible


 
• Every person has broken God’s laws (what the bible calls “sin”) and deserves God’s punishment

 
• Jesus died on the cross to take the punishment we deserve for our sin, though He was without sin

 
• Jesus rose from the dead demonstrating His deity and authority

 
 
• Every person can receive God’s forgiveness only by putting their trust in Jesus

 
• This trust (faith) is properly expressed by turning away (“repenting”) from sin and following Jesus daily

 
• Those who have come to trust in Jesus, following the example of the Bible, are baptised (usually by total immersion in water) to show outwardly the new life they have received inwardly
   
• To be sincere in following Jesus, He must be made Lord of our whole lives

 
• For Jesus to be Lord, He must be placed first in all things

 
 
• This is only possible with the help of God the Holy Spirit living within us

 
 
• The gift of the Spirit is given by God when someone becomes a Christian
